By matching the right flock to the right landscape, sheep producers can help landowners control unwanted vegetation, improve pasture health, maintain properties, and reduce wildfire risk with minimal environmental impact.
Interested in starting and sustaining a grazing service enterprise?
The American Sheep Industry’s Targeted Grazing Handbook offers those new to the targeted grazing industry a great resource for getting started. It is designed as a “How-To” book of practical, applied skills gathered from interviews with more than three dozen experienced targeted grazers to help aspiring grazers understand what it takes to manage grazing contracts.
Targeted Grazing Workshops
The American Lamb Board hosts targeted grazing workshops throughout the country to help sheep producers take advantage of lucrative targeted grazing contract opportunities. The two-day workshops are a comprehensive, hands-on program designed to educate and empower producers on the effective use of sheep for targeted grazing. Producers will learn about improving flock productivity, business planning for grazing operations, strategic vegetation management and the contracting process.
The workshops are presented in partnership with the American Solar Grazing Association (ASGA) and qualifies as an official ASGA Certification course.
